Kit out clinicians. Help country towns keep them.
Our mission is to improve rural medical education, one kit at a time.
Where MEDLII comes from
MEDLII was founded by a husband and wife with a background living and working in rural Australia. Between us we have seen the best of country health care: tight-knit teams, clinicians who can turn their hand to anything, and communities that look after their own.
We have also seen what happens when there are not enough people to go around. Rosters with gaps that never get filled. Locums flown in for a week at a time. Long drives for care that should be close to home. Staff stretched so thin that the good ones burn out and leave. Poor rural and remote staffing is not an abstract policy problem. It shows up in waiting rooms, on the road and in the people who keep the doors open.
Why kits?
Starting out as a doctor or nurse means buying a pile of gear in a hurry, usually from five different places. We wanted to make that one easy decision: a good quality, general purpose kit, set up for you and packed in a box worth keeping, so new clinicians can focus on delivering care.
Our mission: rural medical education
$2 from every kit and every bag we sell will go to rural medical education. The research is consistent: clinicians who train in rural places are far more likely to work in rural places. Supporting that training is the most direct way we know to help fix rural and remote staffing for the long term.
As MEDLII grows we will report on where the money goes. If you run a rural training program, a student rural health club or a scholarship and would like to talk, we would love to hear from you.
Who we work with
Our clinical gear comes from Team Medical Supplies, an Australian medical supplier with warehouses around the country, and our leather bags come from Lizandez. When we launch, kits will be drop shipped from our suppliers, and we will check availability with them every day so what you see on the site is what we can send.
MEDLII is a trading name of Medical Operations and Content Consulting Australia Pty Ltd, ABN 41 699 126 826, based in Devonport, Tasmania.
